Born and bred in south-west Queensland it should be no real surprise that Dan ended up in a field of engineering focused on water.  Dan followed his passions and ability through high school to go straight into an engineering degree at UQ.  He was fortunate enough to find work experience with a boutique engineering firm, Lawson & Treloar, that was focused on water engineering, for his industry experience during his degree. This was the point that engineering really came alive for Dan.

Shortly after commencing on a full-time engineering career with Lawson & Treloar Dan continued his education with a research masters investigating the effectiveness of stormwater quality treatment measures for a catchment located at Carrara on the Gold Coast. This coincided with some very enjoyable time in the field collecting water quality samples in various site around South East Queensland allowing for a grounded understanding of what water quality levels actually mean. The biggest highlight of this time was (carefully) driving his personal car all over a Greg Norman designed golf course to collect water quality samples.

Following the merger of Lawson & Treloar into Cardno, Dan spent the next decade focused on the modelling, designing and finding solutions to stormwater problems both for water quality and flooding before moving to Premise and then Engeny.  Dan continues on finding stormwater solutions to the numerous problems that occur within the field for the various clients that need his services.

Dan has a passion for water and giving back to the engineering community with his involvement in both Stormwater Queensland and the Engineers Australia Queensland Water Panel.  Dan has focused on the advocacy sub-committee having recently been involved in the rainwater tank position statement and SQIDEP feedback.

Outside of engineering, Dan has 4 children that are still working their way through school, which fill in the remaining free time he has with the many extracurricular events.  Dan has a passion for most sports, though cricket is his preferred spectator event.  Nothing beats sipping that beer as the third session starts in a day-night test at the Gabba.  Dan also enjoys reading on various topics and cycling into work when the COVID restrictions allow.
