The Draft State Planning Policy (SPP) was released by the Department of Infrastructure Local Government and Planning (DILGP) for public consultation from November 2016 to February 2017. On 31 January 2017, Stormwater Queensland organised a forum to discuss the draft SPP and subsequently requested feedback from the industry. Videos and presentations from the forum can be viewed here. Comments received from our members were then utilised to prepare a submission on the Draft SPP. The DILGP has now released the new State Planning Policy which commenced on 3 July 2017, along with updates to the Planning Regulation and the State Development Assessment Provisions. The State Planning Policy – state interest guideline – Water quality has not been updated since April 2016. Stormwater Queensland continues to advocate on behalf of its members and recently met with the DILGP and the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection to discuss the submission. The Departments committed to investigating a number of the matters raised in the submission further and consult with the industry on these prior to consideration for the next round of amendments to the policy.
