The Stormwater Queensland committee is proposing an update to the Rules of Association.

The original Rules of Association from when the association was formed in 1996 have had a few minor updates that were approved at AGMs in 2001 and 2013. The original Rules of Association were based on the Model rules at the time.

The current Model rules prepared by the Queensland Government can be downloaded here.

The proposed Rules of Association incorporate some of the new rules from the Model rules as well as other new rules to suit the way the committee operates.

Comments on the new rules are now sought from the members. Comments are required to be received by COB on 13 September 2019. Please send your comments to admin@stormwaterqueensland.asn.au

The adoption of the final proposed Rules of Association will be included in a motion at the 2019 AGM.

The changes include:

  • Corrections to minor typos.
  • Minor changes and additions for clarification.
  • Rule 2. Deleted ‘drainage’.
  • Rule 4. Words ‘full time’ added in accordance with requirement on the stormwater Australia website.
  • Rule 9 Sections 4 and 5. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 10 Section 1. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 10 Sections 4 and 5. Added wording from the current Model rules.
  • Rule 11. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules, except in Section 1, ie the secretary must be an individual residing in Queensland.
  • Rule 11(a). Chairman changed to President.
  • Rule 11(a) Section 1. Deleted wording that no longer applies.
  • Rule 11(a) Section 3 c). ‘officers’ changed to ‘office bearers’.
  • Rule 11(a) Section 3 d). Wording modernised to reflect current practice.
  • Rule 12 Section 1. Added limit to the number of committee members.
  • Rule 12 Section 3. ‘officers’ changed to ‘office bearers’.
  • Rule 12. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 13. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 15. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 16. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rules 16(a), (b) and (c). Wording added from the current Model rules.
  • Rule 17. Title changed and wording changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 18. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 19. Wording changed to allow voting by flying minute. This will formalise current practice.
  • Rule 23. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 25. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules. The quorum for a general meeting will change from double the number of members on the management committee plus one, to the number of members on the management committee plus one.
  • Rule 27(a). Rule added, with wording transferred from Rule 27. Wording changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 31. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 33. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
  • Rule 34. Changed to the wording in the current Model rules.
